Amsterdam Super Trunk Show 2022

Amsterdam Super Trunk Show 2022

After two and a half years it was finally time for the Amsterdam Super Trunk Show. In Amsterdam show in March 2020, Amsterdam was the last in the series of Super Trunk Shows that were held before Covid. In 2022, the kick-off was in London in May. At the end of September the show was held in Stockholm and on October 1st it was time for Amsterdam edition. This year at a new location: the Vondelkerk and that was a good choice! The combination of this beautiful space, the diversity of leather shoes, luxury shoe care and the different style partners produced a beautiful image.

Led by our own Bas van Exter and Jesper Ingevaldsson from Shoegazing.com, we opened the show at 11:00. This year we again had a nice line-up of shoe brands from all over the world. The show was complemented by a number of Dutch style brands. And of course, the Dutch Shoe Shine Championship, in collaboration with Saphir Médaille d'Or, was part of the programme.

The day revolves around shoes, let's start with those: which brands were on display? The Hand is our most important shoe partner of the day. In their boutique shop on Willemsparkweg in Amsterdam you can find high-end shoes from Edward Green, Gaziano & Girling, Norman Vilalta and Maison Corthay, among others.

During the Super Trunk Show, the gentlemen from Edward Green, perhaps our favourite English brand, had come over to Amsterdam.

Once again Nathan Peach made a big impression on his craft, this time he worked on a 'hand sewn Norwagian split toe'. It's great that Edward Green can show this at events like this.

Another crowd pleaser was Acme Shoemaker from China, their fully handmade ready-to-wear and made-to-order shoes are of unparalleled quality. Travel restrictions in China made it difficult for Acme to attend, but we had a solution. Raoul Mulder, a great shoe lover and ambassador of The Shoe Care Shop, took on the representation of the brand in Amsterdam with great pleasure.

Fortunately, the two other Asian brands were able to come over to Amsterdam themselves. Just like two years ago, Bridlen shoes from India was present with a nice selection of their Goodyear welted shoes.

And this time, CNES shoes was also present in Amsterdam, having previously participated in London and Stockholm.

In addition to his shoe blog Shoegazing.com, Jesper is also associated with the Swedish webshop Skolyx. In addition to their own brand, they also brought TLB Mallorca and Yanko to Amsterdam.

On a day full of shoes, good shoe care is of course essential. We organize the Amsterdam Super Trunk Show because we would like to introduce our customers to certain shoe brands, but also to be able to explain how to properly care for those shoes, we are called The Shoe Care Shop for a reason. And so we had our products, including a wide range of Saphir Médaille d'Or, displayed on several tables.

And Saphir was not only there with products, because they are also part of the Dutch Shoe Shine Championship. We organize this with The Shoe Care Shop, Shoegazing, Saphir and Dumco. This year, Theo, Selwyn and Neil got a new Loake Aldwych shoe in mahogany, a Pate de Luxe shoe wax and a Mirror Gloss (both Saphir Médaille d'Or), some shine water, a shoe shine cloth and a brush and twenty minutes to show off their skills.

Also this year a number of nice style partners were present. New Tailor will not be an unfamiliar name to many, we have been attending each other's events for years. They were also present this year.

As a customer of The Shoe Care Shop you have probably seen them in the past, the bags of the Amsterdam brand Travelteq. Since last month, the messengers can be found in our shop again. And to celebrate, they were also present during the show.

The style corner was completed by Amidé Hadelin, this Dutch accessory brand has customers all over the world. And owner Amidé Stevens is well known in the international style world.

London hosts the Bespoke Shoe Making World Championships and the Patina World Championships every year. After the event, the winning shoes from those competitions will be sent around the world to be exhibited. Fortunately, a stop in Amsterdam was also planned, they looked beautiful during the show.

In case you missed them at the event, they can still be seen at The Hand in Amsterdam before they continue their journey through Europe.

What a joy it was to welcome so many shoe lovers and our Dutch and international partners in the Vondelkerk again. We look back on a very successful day and can't wait for next year's edition!
