Socks
Socks complete your outfit and keep your legs covered. For suits, over-the-calf socks are best, as the elastic ensures they stay up all day. With jeans or chinos, mid-calf or shorter socks work fine. Choose natural fibres like cotton, wool, silk or cashmere for comfort and breathability. A touch of elastic ensures a good fit, but avoid synthetic fibres as the main material.
Play with colour for contrast. A sock in a different shade than your suit, matched to your trousers, gives a sharp, refined look. For example, light grey with a charcoal suit or dark green with khaki.

How do you wear socks?
A sock or stocking is worn under a suit to ensure that your legs will never be visible during the day. To make sure your sock won't slide down and look unkempt, choose a nice stocking that goes over the calf. Due to the elastic in the upper part of the stocking, it will stay firmly in place and will not slide down as happens more easily with normal socks. If you're not a fan of stockings, you can, of course, just wear a pair of socks. Make sure they don't sag. Socks are always perfect with a more casual outfit, such as jeans or chinos.
Socks made of cotton, wool or silk?
When buying socks, make sure they are made from natural materials such as cotton, wool, silk or cashmere. Natural threads are softer and easily absorb moisture; they also ensure that your feet perspire less, all characteristics that nylon and other synthetic threads do not have. And of course, you'll need those elastic threads to make sure your sock fits properly, but otherwise, make sure they're made from a natural thread!
A different colour of socks from your suit, of course, well matched with the colour of the pants, will give a nice contrast and make the outfit more refined and complete. For example, wear light grey socks with an anthracite grey suit, or dark green socks with a light khaki.
